Re: Compression Problem 1980 25hp Evinrude E25RCSA

Ok so I guess I am not completely done with my work yet. I had it out for a test drive and it would start up great for me and go. However, after a little while it would die out on me. I can keep it running if I pump the priming bulb by hand but have trouble at full throttle when I am priming the bulb by hand. Is this the fuel pump or did I not do a good job cleaning the carb when I rebuilt it? I am hoping that I don't have to spend $100 on a new fuel pump. Thanks

Usually if you have to pump the primer bulb to keep the engine running you have a weak/defective fuel pump.
There is a gasket between the pump and block, you might check the gasket for damage from overheating the engine, make sure the mounting screws are tight.
