Cone clutch replacement, slight wear on gears, mech is going to flip?

I have a bravo three that has cone clutch wear, we are currently replacing the clutch and he mentioned that the inside of the forward gear has a little wear, where the clutch mates, he recommended flipping the gears over so forward is the better mating surface for the clutch. I have 30/23 low bump gears, is that possible?

i don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. personally i don't understand your mechanic's logic and i would leave the gearset as is

if you are truly skeptical you could leave the gearset as is, buy opposite rotation props and change the throw of the remote so REV becomes FWD and vice versa

I believe his reasoning is that you go in forward a lot more than reverse so put the good side on the most used direction.

that much i understand, however if the mechanic is that concerned about wear on the mating surface then why not recommend replacing the gearset?

He had mentioned it, as a 100% fix for years. But he didn’t seem to think it was that bad, and instead of spending 1100 and losing weeks, this would probably work for a number of years.
