How about God!? Yes, The Boating God :D With the all knowing wisdom of the boating universe, and the caustic wit of George Carlin ;) Lest ye be smited,,,

Whatever,
He shares his great intuitive knowledge freely, & wisely, he's saved many of our arses, many times. Thanks for being here, with your extensive knowledge, we'd be lost without you ;)

Congrats, on this extraordinary milestone!

Re: Congratulations to Don S. 20,000 posts!

At this point I have no idea what title I want ......
Maybe "Grumpy old fart" few would argue with that one, I'm sure.

Ok, I'm fairly new to these forums but from all the reading I've done, I like your approach to doing it right the first time. And, if folks ask for the advice, skips the in between steps and asked again, they should be smited.

However, back to the name. When I see the avatar, I think of Merlin.

By definition:

"Merlin's traditional biography casts him as born of mortal woman, sired by an incubus, the non-human wellspring from whom he inherits his supernatural powers and abilities"

When I think of the way you can take five lines of a cadet's inquiry (sometimes very cryptic) and turn it into a series of steps that fix the problem, it certainly attest to your supernatural powers and abilities regarding engines.

You've certainly picked the right avatar and are deserving of the name similar in stature.

Congratulations on a great achievement.

Cogratulations Don!!!

I have learned a "bunch of stuff" from you ,from NEVER to use Teflon Tape on fuel fittings, To" How to Troubleshoot your Electrical system"

This last weekend 40 miles up the lake the 1992 Searay my buddy owns, would not start, on the cold rainy morning heading home. I pulled out my printed version of your "post," and we soon discovered the ignition switch was faulty .We were able to jump it and get it and get it started. Saved us a long tow, with cranky grandkids!!!!

Thanks again for your proffesional tips for troubleshooting and "How to Do it Right the First time. "

Don: Congratulations on reaching this milestone. You are truly the ideal teacher: one who knows his material, asks the right questions, directs the under-educated, motivates the reader, tolerates those who are unsure, knows when to kick a little butt to control the masses, shares his knowledge and his person, and enjoys what he's doing. I nominate the title: "Marine Solomon". Thanks for all you've taught me and others. Hy

I too would like to thank Don and countless others who have helped so many!

However, I would like to say Don has "softened" in his approach............:)

I can't say how much this forum has helped me and I know it has helped others just as much.

It does get frustrating at time ( for both parties)...........but if they keep their heads it works out.

Keep up the good work!!!! And thanks!!!!!!!!!

Great job, Don! I am relatively new here, but have read much of your input and have learned from it.

How about being called "The yoda of the boata"

Congrats

Don who? J/K

I've known Don before his iBoats days and I can unequivocally say I have many treasured hours on the water under my belt thanks to him.

The best part about Don is no matter how deep you are in, or how bad your problem is, if you are willing to listen he'll stick it out with you to the bitter end.

If he still has a picture of the prop on my first boat from a lifetime ago ago you'd see what I am talking about. To anyone else I would have been a lost cause...

Cheers to you old man. :D

Congratulations Don!

I thought about what you have done form the group and how the many iboater's have come forward to thank you for your contributions to them and the masses. As a new boater it is truly a great thing to find men such as your self that are willing to help and assist those of us in need. While some might think it is only boating; how important is that? We the members of iboats know need you and thank you for all the great times we have enjoyed on the water. For this my suggestion to you is:

Nautical Shaman:D
There are many variations of shamanism throughout the world; following are beliefs shared by all followers of Nautical shamanism

The Nautical Shaman can communicate with the boating world.
The Nautical Shaman can treat sickness of all boats and motors.
The Nautical Shaman can employ discussion inducing techniques to troubleshoot, repair boats, and amuse his followers.
The Nautical Shaman's spirit can leave the body to enter the supernatural world of marine diagnostics to search for answers needed for any repair.

Shamanism is based on the premise that the visible world is pervaded by invisible forces or spirits which affect the lives of the living. In our case, those spirits are caused by the likes of boat and motor manufactures everywhere, misuse (other wise stupid human tricks), and abuse (from those that don't know any better). Nautical Shamanism requires individualized knowledge and special abilities. Nautical Shaman can gather into associations, such as iboats to share their abilities with the masses.

Thanks again for your service!
