i need to connect the throttle and shift cables to a 1986 28hp SPL. the remote outboards i have/had all connect through the front. this has a bracket on both sides that the cables connect to some how for shift and throttle. i know i have seen this done on many outboards but somehow when you are standing with a cable in 1 hand and looking at the motor the brain goes blank. on the shift side there is a post mounted on the shift lever that the cable end goes over. then there is a bracket mounted on the side of the motor that i assume the cable has to go through or get clamped to somehow. how does it get clamped and on what part of the cable? does the trunion nut go in front or behind the clamp? on the throttle side there is a bracket that looks like the cable must weave through it somehow and a post on the throttle connection that the cable will go over. when i got the motor the guy gave me the control box and cables but i am not sure i have all the parts. my parts manual is pretty good on the control box end but pretty vague on the motor end so anybody that could post a picture that shows what i need i would really appreciate it.
