Consequence of running cooler?

Hi, i had a 1993 Merc. 60 hp 3 cyl (S/N 0D074327) that run fine, but, even if the diagram on Merc Part Express show that is has a t-stat, the pee stream is very strong right on strart-up. I don't have tested the t-stat yet, but i suspect that it's stuck open.<br /><br />Could someone please tell me what are the possible consequence if the powerhead run cooler than what it's supposed (143 F)?<br /><br />Thanks for your input.<br />Steve

Poor idle, would be the biggest problem

I recently went to replace the tstats in my 88' V6 200hp, and to my suprize I had none. However, engine idles great. 750-800 Rpm in netural and ~600-650 in gear. However, my plugs seem to always have an oily residue on them but not fouled. So maybe the cooler temp leads to fouling.

I had trouble getting the needle to move off the pin on a newly installed temp guage, so I e-mailed Mercury. The tech replied that lower HP merc's run cold(I have a 50hp). May not even move the needle in some cases. I have a fairly weak stream at idle and I know my t-stat is working properly.<br /><br />Jerry
