So I am looking at a 1982 30ft Scarab Sport with dual outboard 235 v6 Johnsons. and I have no idea what to expect from this sort of boat? I have a 1984 19ft cuddy I/O now and it goes fast enough and manuevers just fine, just don't have enough room for people.

It's been very difficult to find any performance or value info on this boat searched google, wellcrafts site, iboats, and NADA and can't get an idea of what to expect. (open to suggestions on where else to look)

Will the boat go fast enough (40mph) Will it be more maintenance or less with dual outboards over an I/O is there anything I don't know about dual motors? fuel economy?

TIA,

Chris

Well, it should exceed 40. Jeeze... I would hope 45-50.

More maintenance.

~2 MPG if they are early 1980's engines.

Those boats show up in resto sections 'round the web. They tend to be rotted out at that age. Might want to consider that. At 30' of boat and 30 years old, that ain't no small joke to find out the wood is all rotted.

Proceed w/ caution.

this is exactly the kind of responses I was hoping for. Me and my boat mechanic are going to look at it in the morning. I'll follow up here and let you know what we find.

Thanks Again.
