I have an 08 Caravelle Interceptor 232 with a 350 mag. When I run down the river I get a constant alarm when I hit 5000rpm. I thought it may be the drive fluid level since I was trimming up at this speed. That is not it. I thought maybe the rev limiter but I have to slow all the way down to idle to remove the alarm. I loose power when the alarm is sounding. All gauges are in the normal range. Would an over rev alarm do this and require a back to idle to reset? I had the alarm start at 4000rpm once over the weekend. I also ran for 5 minutes at 4950rpm with no issue and went to 5000rpm and immediately got the alarm. Any ideas? The alarm is a constant high pitch.

Ayuh,.... Is this an Efi, or Mpi motor,..?? I'd expect the alarm to sound from low oil pressure, high water temp, or low drive oil in the bottle,...

Thanks for the reply. I added lube to the drive all the way to max level. Oil pressure stays about 55 while running hard and the temp stays at 175. This is an MPI engine. Any ideas what other alarm it could be. I tried several times over the weekend and the gauges were rock solid. As soon as I hit 5000 rpm I got the alarm. It doesn't seem like a rev alarm but it seems 5000 rpm triggers it.. I thought the 350 mags operating range was 4800-5200. The engine loses power and I have to throttle way back to get the alarm to go away. I ran the boat at 4900-4950 rpm for about 5 miles with no issue but as soon as I throttled up to 5000 I got the alarm. It doesn't make any sense.

Ayuh,.... I don't think there's an alarm for the rev-limiter,.... It'll just stop revin' higher,...
Bein' a 'puter controlled motor, ya almost Have to hook it up to a 'puter to see what's goin' on,...
I hear Rinda has a nice one,...

Only thing I know of in the tank is 100 percent gas, no ethenol. I ran 2 tanks through it this week. I bought the gas at the marina. Boat never missed a beat unless I was running 5000 rpm.

Thangs for the response. This makes sense but not knowing for sure really bugs me. A local boat shop quoted 95 bucks to read the alarm so I"m not sure weather to waste the money or not.
