Control cable length question

The old cable set for my Sylvan 15ft side console (starboard side controls) had an 11ft cable to the shifter, which seemed ok, but only a 10ft to the throttle (sounds reversed to me) which seemed a bit of a stretch. I'm thinking of staying with 11ft for shifter, but considering jumping to a 12ft for the throttle. A + B dimensions are just under 8ft. I'll be ordering my cables from iBoats when the time comes, but confused. Teleflex says A+B+2ft, the sticky above recommends A+B+4ft. Think I'll be ok with 11 and 12? Still a few months out from needing them, but like to plan and budget ahead.

When I got my boat, the shift cable was 12' and the throttle was 15'. My new cables that fit are 11'

I think a PO got used cables from some place and they worked. They sure weren't too short.

There is some confusing info about how to measure. I knew from how my old cables fit they were too long.

PO's sometimes do the wrong things.

It sounds like 11' cables are the right size for you since the 10 footer is tight. On my Merc both cables are same length.

Thank you GA, I'll plan on a pair of 11's then
