Control Cables

Can someone please tell me the differnce between a shift cable and a throttle cable...are they one in the same? Are there two "control cables coming off the throttle controler (forward/nuetral/reverse) and one for acceleration?

The cables are the same.... but if your looking to replace them they usually are 2 different lengths.
