control panel on boat

ok someone help.i bought a 1974 sea sprite.this is my first boat got it cheap.How many cables shld the control panel have.im real cofused on the whole boat thing.

Yup, not enough info to help you.

The dash board can have anywhere from 4 wires to several hundred depending on what has been added to the boat, people hav ehad 37 years to mess with it so there could be anything under there.

Get up what exactly you are talking about and what it is or isn't doing and we may be able to help.

This^^^ An outboard powered boat could literally have nothing on the dash. They don't really NEED anything other than the control box which contains the throttle/shifter and ignition switch. So yeah, we need more info, and preferably, a picture.

How many cables shld the control panel have.

Shift cable, throttle cable, steering cable. That makes 3 unless you have electric shift, then there would be 2.
