Hello everyone,

I have a 1990 bass buggy/tracker. On it I have a 1991-2 Stroke Johnson 25 hp motor. It works great, but the control box, where the fast idle lever and throttle lever are located needs some work done. The fast idle lever feels loose, and I’ve tried working on it, but someone told me that inside the control box there are plastic and nylon fittings that could have cracked. So here is my question.......

if I open up the box and do see parts that need to be replaced, Does anyone know of any online shop that might have replacement parts for the control box? Can I replace the entire control box with a newer one, if I can locate one?

Ive used Marine Engine in the past to order Replacement parts for my outboard motor. However, I know that this website usually only sells parts to service outboard motors. Where do you suggest I look for parts to help me with the controller box?

Step #1 is to take it apart to see what you need.----They really are not that complicated , but that is my opinion.

Also, I know this is a little off topic, but I wanted to ask about the type of gas I can use. Would I be able to use premium unleaded vs regular, or is that not something recommended to do?

What would I search for though on iBoats? Controller or under electrical?

Hm-m-m-m, that's a good question. Understand I have no connection with iboats. But I went through the motions by clicking on "SHOP" at the top of the page, then "SHOP BY CATEGORY", then "OEM PARTS" then since I do not know your model number, I guessed as 25EEI. That brought up all the engine parts, but not the remote control, which I assume is an accessory.

I do know that iboats works through Crowley Marine to furnish OEM Evinrude parts,. Perhaps a phone call to iboats' customer service dept is in order.

Your motor was designed to run on regular 87 octane unleaded gas. Any comments beyond that would mean joining the Great Gas War and fighting over Ethanol, Non-Ethanol, Additives, etc. I try to stay out of that war. But I confess all I ever use is what I buy at the corner Racetrac gas station, and have never had one minute's trouble with it.

I found your control box, but am not allowed to post the website. If you can't find a breakdown, message me for the website.
