Hello, I have a 1960s 14 foot runabout without a working motor. I found a great deal on a running 18hp 1963 evinrude fastwin. Under $200. I am considering it, but I'd like remote throttle control. I have a throttle control box on my boat, with cables. Is as simple as taking off the tiller and connecting throttle cables? My boat has the simple pulley steering, easy enough to set up. But what about the throttle/gear shifting? Do I need any hard to find parts? Thanks for the help.

Piece of cake, nothing to it. All you need are the "locks" or clips that go on the motor to attach the cables. Any Evinrude dealer, or iboats, or on-line auction site, etc will have them. No you don't have to remove the tiller either. But it will work easier if you remove the tapered friction plug from the twist grip.
