i was going through some old post, this one is from 2005, anyway the guy says he has a 1969 85 hp and he converted it from amplifier to a regular coil. Can it be done? this is what he wrote

Pretty simple really, use a coil that doesn't have a resistor built into it. the postive side of the coil wires to the ignition which should be the hot wire to your amp. The negative side of the coil goes to you points. Then there's a condensor on the negative side going to ground.
