Re: converting from I/O to outboard

Just did the same Conversion on a simi;liar boat Chris Craft Vf211 scorpion and the braket is mounted 23 inches from the keel to the top of the braket if using a 25 inch motor this will give you what you need I put a 200 oceanrunner on mine to replace a 170 mercruiser the boat i have was bulit buy the guy who built the well craft V20 steplift if you would like to see some pics email me the boat out performs the other set-up totaly asside from the better gas mileage of the sterndrive the outboards performance and ease of re-power blows the sterndrive away and the boat has alot more deck space

why not look for a new/used lower unit with a
longer shaft? for all the time/money you're gonna
spend messing with it, seems like the best
solution.
good luck,
M.Y.

I would spemd $500 on a hydrolic jack plate. you will wonder how you lived with out it!!! put the jack plate on the gill bracket and you will have a winning combination! your 120 evinrude can also be suber charged (that power head can take it) to give you ONLY a 5-20 horse power boost on PREMIUM fuel (no 87 octane only 93!!!!!!) good luck

Re: converting from I/O to outboard

Thanks guy's for all the info. I am going to stay with the 120 Jonhson 20" shaft. The gill bracket is 28" long so if I go up 1" for every 5 I will be going up on the transmon 5" this should be fine.

Sloopy what does a Jack plate give me besides up down adjustment? I see the advantage og going up and down for the rt height but what other advantage does this give me? What do you mean super charge? Just put in the 93 gas or some other adjustment?
Thanks guy's
