My 351 engine compartment is so quiet my passanger don't even know it's running, If I could adapt a set of electric cutouts to have best of both worlds I would, cause one day a boat just like mine was tooling by me while I was anchored, we waved at each other and just as he passed by was when he fliped the switch and showed me his cutouts, I was looking at the transom and could see those flapper things like you see on semi trucks, it sounded so cool I was envyous. I just can't imagine there being enough room to have all thet stuff in the engine compartment.

I think it would be great to go back to being a teenager with just a flip of a switch.

First off, the 'legal' exhaust is non existant anymore, the yokes were shot and are about 700 each to replace. The switch thing is called 'captains call' and is really nice, but also extremely expensive, plus you need both systems in place to start with.

Going through hull would save us about $1000-1200 per engine in the end(after manifolds and risers that fit, the yokes, and the correct elbows and hose), and for 2 16 year olds thats a fair bit of change.

Also, we are going to be running silencing tips, so it wont be too loud.

I have electric cutouts on my 1970 428CJ cougar, the cutout switch is located in my console, I'm 49 yrs of age, but when I blast down main street sat. night open headers with a flip of a switch, man what a feeling to be 17yrs. old again.
The cutouts valves are stainless steel actuators also all stainless epoxie sealed electrical connections, I paid 150.00 ea. for them, they have been on the car since 88' headers are ceramic coated remaining exhaust stainless including the mufflers.
If I could have this set up on my boat too I would in a heartbeat.

Like I said before, I don't see the big issue involved. I would do it! It will save you money and sound really great!

Too many people are "strictly by the book" & in real life it doesn't always work that way.
