hi guys,
im getting coosa board put in stringers and transom. its a 18 ft 91 wellcraft fish. is the coosa board worth the money. the guy putting it in said he would give me a lifetime warranty on the boa twith no exclusions.
its going to set me back 3000.00 for coosa transom ,stringers , everything coosa.. refoam with closed cell..the foam in boat now is like a sponge. this includes taking cap and engine off and reinstallation. does that sound like a good price.ive never done this before..

iimho, if the man has a good reputation, does good work, and great knowledge, thats what you are paying for. as far a warranties, there only as good as who's backing them. get some references from him, other boats he's done. it's a dirty nasty jobs. if the funding is not a problem, i mark it up the 15 years of deferred maintainance.

IMHO, for $3000 I'd be weary of that guy's craftmanship. New transom and stringers, not to mention all the finish work along the seams where he will be cutting to gain access to the transom and strigners. And all the de-rigging he'll have to do. He'll be going out of business soon or he is planing on doing it very quick for that price.

However, coosa board is good stuff. It's ~$300 for an 8'x4'x1.5" panel last time I checked. You'll have a rot free transom, forever.

I hate to show my ignorance, but what is coosa board? I did a yahoo search and all I get is a county in Alabama.

hi,
no stupid question. from what ihear coosa board..is a fiberglassed impregnated foam board. its comes in different thickness ..from 1/4 to 11/2.. can be used for transom ,stringers , anything that wood can be used for. also the best thing about it is that it never rots.
