First he takes the oath.

Then he takes...it in stride when people call him PIG.
He takes...time to talk to children.
He takes... your verbal abuse while giving you a ticket you really deserve.

He takes... on creeps you would be afraid to even look at.
He takes ... time away from his family to keep you and yours safe.
He takes ... your injured child to the hospital.
He takes ... the graveyard shift without complaint because it's his turn.
He takes ... his life into his hands daily.

He takes ... you home when your car breaks down.
He takes ... time to explain why BOTH your headlights have to work.
He takes ... the job no one wants--telling you someone you love has died.
He takes ... criminals to jail.
He takes ... in sights that would make you cry.

Sometimes he cries too, but he takes it away because someone has to.
If he's lucky, he takes retirement
He takes ... memories to bed each night that you couldn't bear even for a day.

Sometimes he takes a bullet.

And yes, occasionally he may take a free cup of coffee.

Then one day he pays for all he has taken...
and God takes him.

Remember those who have lost there lives serveing in a Police Uniform during National Police Week May 13th-20th.

God bless the Heroes

Yup :)

I just finished reading Under and Alone by William Queen. Awesome read that is partially about personal sacrifices a cop makes while undercover. I highly recommend this book before the movie comes out (in production) and possibly wrecks the story.

amazon.com/gp/product/1400060842/102-5780865-5387340?v=glance&n=283155

Yes. Good one.

It also gets me that people complain about the doghnut shop. Everyone gets to take a break. Even cops. Or would those who complain rather have the officers drive back to the station and go to the lounge?

There is good and bad help in all occupations. The problem is the people that don't know the difference.

Re: Cops on the "take"

That is awesome. I appreciate police officers and for the difficult job they have and the low salary they receive. The same can be said of our military personnel.

The only problem I have with cute poems or sayings like this one is that it implies that all police officers will go to heaven ("and God takes him") because of their faithful duty to their jobs.

The Bible is clear that a person does not enter heaven because of their good works. So many people are hoping that God will take them to heaven because they basically have been a good person, haven't killed anybody or anything horrible like that, and they try to do good most of the time.

A few examples:
Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."

The ticket to heaven can't be bought or earned. It must be freely taken by simply believing and praying.

Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

Yes, there will be many, many police officers in heaven, but it will be because of their personal dependence on Christ's sacrifice for their sins (and mine and yours) by His death on the cross. It will not be because they did their jobs of protecting and serving the public well.

Yep, I'm one of those Jesus Freaks alright. Like yourself, I try to live it (and preach it) whenever I can.

If I had the cure for cancer, I'd certainly share it with the world. I believe that I know the secret cure to another type of spiritual "cancer" called sin. Jesus has the cure, but people have to ask for it. It isn't automatic. I'm going to share that message (even if some people don't want to listen) too. :D
