Correct Anode Trim Tab?

The mercury dealer swears that I have the correct part numbered anode on my motor. But doesn't it look too close to the propeller? (yup - correct prop!)

What does everyone think?

Looks like the right prop, and looks like the right anode... If it ain't touching, it's good to go.... (yes, they get close). And that engine looks like a V6, yes?

Re: Correct Anode Trim Tab?

It depends on what it's running on. On my bass boat, that trim tab would be completely out of the water at WOT. About 2/3 of my prop is in the water. I use a flat disk sacrificial anode, which lowers the odds that debris will get caught between it and the prop, breaking something.

If you're running with the prop fully submerged, it's set up right.

I get approximate trim control with a slight bend (torque tamer) added to the skeg by the local prop shop. You have to look close to even see it, but it makes a world of difference in high speed steering.

hope it helps

Hi guys, this motor is a straight 6. 1988 model. Tx for the input!

I guess I was really worried about the prop touching the anode when under power.

The prop goes round and round, not back and forth. At least that's the way it's supposed to work.:D
