I purchased a used 2-stroke 1998 Yamaha outboard last season and have been burning gasoline the previous owner had in the tank. The previous owner advised he was running 100 to 1 mixture and the motor ran well. Recently, I burned out the fuel and replaced it with 50 to 1 mixture, which I believe is standard. On my first trip out with the 50 to 1 mixture, the motor boggs down when applying full rpms and the boat will not get on plane. Can someone please tell me of the correct mixture for this motor. Could this be a carb problem? Thank for any help.

Changing the mixture shouldn't cause that, Dawg.

There are several possibilities. . .dropped cylinder, carb, ignition.

If you will tell us the model number we can probably help you track it down.

I'm new to Yamahas, I believe the model # is C-50PLRX.
