Re: Correct knot for the anchor line?

I have a rope to chain splice on my main anchor, out of necessity, it's the only thing that'll work with my windlass. My stern anchor and alternate main anchor have eye splices with plastic thimbles. I enjoy splicing three strand nylon, it's fun, fast and the results look great.

I use anchor grade duct tape to secure the line to the chain.

you can get stainless for far less than $10 per ft and ask yourself what costs less good rode or replacement anchor and rode from not doing it right the first time. for the size boat you are talking about you can get a chain/nylon prespliced anchor rode for less than $150 with an anchor.
