Have an '83 Johnson 140 with OMC tachometer of around the same vintage. Was told (5) is the correct setting for the switch on the back of the tach. This is a fairly new ride for me so I could be wrong, but I think it reads a lil low?

Can anyone confirm the correct setting? Thanks!

I would think the setting on the back should match your number of cylinders...never seen a tach that wasn't that way.

Then again, I've never seen a vintage OMC tach. Got pics?

From other posts by the gurus on the forum they have said that 6p should be the correct setting; try it and see if it's better. Good luck
