corrosion on battery cable black wire 2001 z150tlrz hpdi

the battery cable is corroded with green and black wire inside the yamaha cables. it still starts but i am wondering if the corrosion might be causing problems with the hpdi electronics on the motor itself... do i have to use yamaha cables or can i make my own

You could make them but will not be sealed as well as the factory cables
