Could I get some opinions about the value of these?

Hi I am in the process of doing up my first boat and I want to upgrade the seats as they are very very tired. I am now looking at buying these seats just to get me started. I am on a budget at the moment and also I dont think the boat is worth spending a hell of a lot on. I wanted to get some opinions on the value for money of these seats or should I be considering something else. My intent is to make a storage box for life jackets etc and mount the seats to the lids of the boxes so I dont lose my storage. The website is an Australian one which is where I am based. I live in Mandurah WA.

Those are quite similar to what I put in my little fish-n-ski which I repaired several years ago. They're very satisfactory, and the price looks reasonable as well.

Not sure what brand they are but look like the Wise brand and I have also used those, I had a set of those mounted like your talking about in a bow rider I owned for many years and the seats held up very well.

This is the boat they are on and the seats I am looking to replace. Regarding attaching the storage box (that I am going to mount them to) to the floor, would I just screw it? How will I know where the joists are or is it not like that? Do I have to use anything to treat the join against water damage?

Here's how I'd do it to avoid any possible issue of water intrusion into the plywood which is part of the deck:

I'd cut a base plate from treated lumber to match the inside dimension of the box. Pre-drill some holes in the base plate for screws (I'd use stainless steel screws so they don't rust). Position the base plate on the deck in its final position and run the screws into the deck, then bring them back out, put a dab of 3M 5200 on each screw hole in the deck, then permanently install the base plate. Then your boxes can be installed by running a few screws through the bottom of the box into the base plate, again I'd use stainless screws for this.

And as far as the boxes, I'd make them out of standard plywood and paint them with a couple coats of fiberglass resin to waterproof them.

Those look just the ones on my Spectrum boat here in the states, the are a satisfactory seat, mine mount to a box as well and seem to work just fine. I wouldn't buy them again, but only because I would like a swivel and air adjusted rise/lower ability. Good low end seat.
