My neighbor always left the plug in..until we had 3 days of rain and he noticed his Lund was sitting on the ground, boat filled 1/2 way with water..crushed the trailer...never do that again.

Seems its an internationally silly thing to do ,I did it on Loch Lomond a few months ago ,launched boat and parked up car by the time I got back water was pooling under splash well ,I had noticed before that drain was out of the water when on the plane so headed across the lake to a sand bank to beach her, half way there water had drained so just reached down and screwed drain plug home ,wont do that again.

I have my plug attached to a tie-down strap (on the back of my boat), right by the buckle. I twist that in first, then take off the straps.

I also have a spare in the boat.

Last year at our launch someone stuck up a sign "Dave, is the plug in?". LOL. No one forgot for the rest of the season!
