couple of bugs to work out

Got that boat back in the water this last weekend after replacing all the rubber and shift cable on the out drive. Everything works great but have a few bugs.

First my trim gauge is off. Do I need to readjust the trim limit switches since I pulled them off? I put them exactly how they were (I made a match mark) but when it is all the way down the gauge reads only half down.

Second.. when I put the engine in forward and the throttle is really stiff. Not in reverse or when I do throttle only. Do I need a new cable from the controller to the engine or maybe pull it apart and grease the connections in there?

Third... My rpm gauge bounce sometime. Not all the time but I noticed it would bounce way up or down every once in a while. What controls that. Is there a connection I can check?

Thanks for the help

Yes you need to adjust the trim sender. And it sounds like the shift cable adjustment is off causing binding in the control.

I will check the shift cable adjustment again. and adjust the trim sender. Thanks

The first two problems were already covered. As to the third - your bouncing tachometer: It is connected directed to the ignition coil. Check for a loose connection, unlikely but possible. It's more likely that your tachometer itself or the coil itself is going. If your engine is running fine, even when the tach bounces, than the culpit is probably the tach itself. Hy

Well that is not the right answer. I was looking for a cheap easy fix. How come everytime I finish one thing three more come up. :):):)
Just kidding. Thanks I will look at the connections. and probably end up replacing the tach. :)
