I just purchased a 1985 procraft 1650v with a 90hp rude vro and I noticed the prop shaft nut was loose enuff that I could move it by hand limited of course by the cotter pin, my question is how tight should that be torqued down and does it do any harm by being abit loose ?

Also on the boat there is a minnkota bow mount 37 lbs of thrust ,that even with a freshly charged battery turns what I think is very slow even on top speed, I have a 34lb motorguide bow mount and on the same battery testing it out the motorguide turns about twice as fast! any ideas?

thnx,
mark

Re: couple of questions

Snug on the nut, but don't overtorque it. The underlying washer is probably plastic....

Is it possible the slow running troller is 24V, and you are running it on 12v?

Re: couple of questions

Finger tight on the prop or use a pliers to snug & back off if needed for the cotter pin.
