Re: Covert carb motor to DFI
the reason its burning so much gas is that you have an intake port and an exhaust port open for some duration at the same time. Waist of gas.
the DI models Ficht and E-tec inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber when the ports are closed.piston closes the ports than it will inject fuel.
so no waist of fuel.
you cannot convert it to an DI engine that will be fuel efficiant.
you will need to oil the bearings and crank, instal new pistons, cylinder heads, injectors sensors different stator 55v a lot of stuff that make it not worth it.
there are 2 stroke outboards that have fuel injection in the intake part of the engine.
same thing as the carbed engines just they have injectors instead of carbs.
ports are still open at the same time to transfer the fuel/exaust.
it will take a hack of a lot to convert to this system with your carbed engine.
you wil have to install a engine speed censor, trothle position sensor, control unit, electronic fuel pump, wiring plumming, injectors, presure regulator and a lot more.
i wouldnt recomend doing that.
