I've been looking in the forums search but didn't really find good information on this.

The rubber gasket on my engine cowling does not stay in place. I've tried 3m spray adhesive - it sort of works, but sections have let go.

Now, I've completely removed the rubber gaskets. I've completely cleaned, degreased and lightly sanded the surface of the cowling, and have completly degreased the gasket - it is totally clean and dry. All in an attempt to get a good gluing surface.

Now what kind of glue should I use? The ideas I've had are: contact cement or the silicone based marine adhesive/sealant that I have.

Any success stories out there? .

Thanks.

Re: Cowling gasket glue

where do you find it? Does it need to be clamped/held in place while drying? Have you used it with an outboard - did it hold up "forever"? Thanks!
