Re: crankcase

What year is this motor? We assume its a crossflow. What do you mean when you said you removed the upper and lower crankcase covers?

Did you get both dowel pins? 6 main bolts? Sometimes its easy to overlook one of the 1/4 20 bolts along the edge, especially near the bottom.

The top main bearing housing is off so we know you got those 4. The bottom bearing housing has 8 that hold it on. The 4 in the middle hold it to the crank but it helps to at least loosen them.

Re: crankcase

Did you remove the intake manifold so that the main retaining bolts could be removed?

Re: crankcase

The bottom main bearing seal can be removed with a hammer and punch.... no big deal. However, installing it properly takes a special installing tool. You may be able to install it via some other method but if not, simply take the bottom crankcase head and the seal into your local dealership to have it installed.... wouldn't take but a few minutes.

Dutch.... As Hooty states in not so many words, you do need a manual. It is going to be impossible for us to guide you through each and every step that's needed on rebuilding that engine.

With a manual, you'll avoid being in over your head, making a slight mistake that will prove to be quite expensive.

The sealer between the C/C halves is OMC GelSeal or Loctite 518, doesn't matter which. Knowing how to use it properly is another matter.
