Is a 1998 Crestliner 1750 with a 90hp Evinrude any good for a first boat? Thanks for any info.

I had a Crestliner 1600 Fishhawk and found it to be a good boat. I have it for sale now only because we bought a larger Triumph. I think Crestliner makes one of the best aluminum boats.

Great boats, I purchase a lot of Crestliner items and they are good quality.
Won't be disappointed.
If it was me.....I'd go get it.

I have a Crestliner 1850 SF L O V E I T !!

Well made, reliable and very Dry.

The 1750 would be a great 1st boat!

I'm not sure about the 90hp motor though. What is the max HP it will take? Idealy you want to be as close to max as possible for resale value. Also how many people will typically be on the boat? Where will you boat (lake, river, ocean ...) do you need to pull a skier or wil you only fish? Do you need to get anywhere fast?

90 HP on a 17.5 footer is plenty of power. Do an on-water test before buying and insist on a compression check while you watch. Don't take the dealer (or private party) word for anything. Make sure the oil injection has not been disabled and if it is, why?

I have a 1992 Crestliner 196 Eagle and I am in the process of replacing my deck. I am very impressed with the design and construction of the boat. The stringers are of heavy aluminum and then between the stringers there are ribs on the inside of the hull every few inches to add strength. It is a very dry ride and really stable in rough water.
