Re: Crownline

I am still kicking. I actually live in Southern California and my dealer is about 15 to 20 miles from my home. I think my dealer is not too bad, but I may try to find someone else I can give a try. I think Crownline really doesn't understand how customer service is supposed to work. I am just hoping that whatever I need in the future can be kept at the dealer level.

Re: Crownline

I hate to say it, but I have had the need to contact the Better Business Bureau twice in the past. Both times involved insurance company issues (I'll never do business with Mass Mutual again). My experience with BBB was they were a complete waste of time. I now have no idea who they help. They were of absolutely no help, none. Is there not a beter organization out there that actually has the well being of consumers at heart? Whether it involves boats, cars, leisure suits (O.k. I'm old), or motorcycles there needs to be assistance when needed. No wonder attorneys have so much business.

Re: Crownline

Hey RUNRROB--When I got on this bulletin board, I was so impressed with the help and knowledge to the boating world. And that was when there was only about 1600 members. Now I see numbers reaching 6000. So, I look at it this way. I've always have heard that "WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BEST ADVERTISEING" Well I would think that if 6000 members read about your experience, and then if each member that reads it, passes it onto a friend, then there is 12,000 people aware that Crownline sucks. That is alot of word of mouth information, it can be good or bad, and I would think companies at all times stand behind what they make. Comments like yours may not make a significant loss in their business, but it sure doesn't help either. I have had several boats and all have been used. I plan to get a new one in the near future, and I guarntee that I read alot of these posts and have learned alot. Today while reading this post, I have learned to pass on by the Crownline/Silverline boats, because I want every ounce of satisfaction from my bucks. :D THANKS RUNRROB and good luck and have a terrific new year! :D

Re: Crownline

Warranties and customer service are as much a part of the purchase of your new boat as the propeller and steering wheel. You paid for these "services" when you bought your boat. So either Crownline &/or your dealer do whatever it takes to make things right with your boat or simply give it back to them for a full refund. If they are not willing to do that...sue them.

Walt

Re: Crownline

I have been out of touch with this forum for a while. Thank you all for your good comments. Now that I have dealt with the BBB, I totally agree with Sandman, the BBB is useless. If I have convinced SS MAYFLOAT to never buy a Crownline boat then I feel I have accomplished something with my posts. Thank you Oar Master and Walter for your helpful comments. My boat seems to be running fine now. I do fear ever having problems in the future. I hope I never have to contact Crownline again. They have completely ignored me. Unfortunately they really have no understanding of Customer Service. I will just try to enjoy the boat while I have it and hope to be able to upgrade soon. Thanks again to everyone for listening and giving me advice.

There are always 3 sides to the story, yours' thiers, and the truth~ there's a lot missing here. I own a CL and have a few friends who do as well and we've never had any problem as you desribe with the company, Dealers on the other hand have always been my problem, it's hard to find a good one~

I won't get into it again, but I do agree with Shallowater210. There is always more than one side to a story. We all have to take what we hear or read and apply it to our own world with logic and reason. If you have never had a problem with Crownline, you may not believe my story. I have run across others that have had similar problems with Crownline, so I know I am not alone or crazy.

Re: Crownline

This is an interesting topic, though obviously not fun for you. I gotta say, this is a free country, at least it was, and they have the right to be as ugly as they want so long as they fulfill their contract. Course we are free not to get involved with a company that is prone to press their advantage over us. They should be "bigger" than we customers sometimes are. On the other hand we customers are too used to being able to abuse vendors cause "we are always right". This customer service mantra has practically trained us customers to be difficult to deal with. Sounds like you made them mad, and they are going to show you, and they can. I suggest you forget about it and just go in like nothing has happened for normal service if the need arises and chalk this one up to experience.

Re: Crownline

RunnRob I read all the replies and wanted to share a little with ya too. Once I had a truck I was going to get rid of so I wanted to take my nice aftermarket $300 100 watt car stereo out and put the old junk stock radio back in the dash before trading the truck in. So I did and because it was going in my wife's more complex newer car I would have a "Car Audio Shop Pro" do the work to install it in her car. I get over to the shop to pick up the car and pay my bill and test the thing out and its lit up but no sound no stations. I make the mistake of saying to the manager "I don't know what you guys did to my radio but it worked yesterday when I took it out of my truck". He get's pissed off and tells me it was a piece of crap radio anyway and that "NO ONE COMES INTO MY SHOP AND TELLS MY WORKERS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING" Of course I never said that but that's the way he took my complaint. I was so angered my veins bulged in my neck, fist balled up and I almost nailed him as he was in my face foaming at the mouth and yelling, but rather than knock him out and have to tangle with 4 shop employees shortly after, I left and sped home. While driving home I noticed the program light was flashing I hit it then tuned a station and it worked awesome. The idiots never programmed it and I got $50 worth of labor for free. Now that's Customer Service. Yee hah suckers.......heheheheeee

Re: Crownline

Thanks for your comments SCO and fishy13. I have chalked it up to experience. I still believe in "The Customer is always right", but I do know people that abuse it. I don't think companies have to bend over backwards and give away the farm when Customers make a stink, but I do think they should be professional and courteous to there Customers even when the Customer is being a jerk and is totally wrong. In my situation with Crownline I was upset but not being a jerk. I got a little pissy after I was insulted. I was not right nor wrong. I was looking for help to expedite a repair. I contacted both Crownline and Volvo Penta, neither of which could help me. The difference was that the person at Volvo Penta was professional and told me, in a very nice way, they could not help. The person at Crownline was rude and disrespectful. I think that is very bad business. Most companies now days don't seem to care about quality or Customer Service and that is sad. I have decided to just enjoy my boat and move on. My next boat will not be a Crownline. Thanks again for your comments. I am looking forward to a fun summer of boating. That was a funny story about the Audio System. Take care.

Re: Crownline

Wow !!! I am glad I saw this post. I am in a process of getting a 2003 202lpx crownline. Boating is something you do with family and friends. I don't think I need to have all that headache when having fun. I don't want to take a chance with crownline and hoping that they are going to treat me right. I have read a few post about crownlines customer-service and it all seem to lead to one issue (problems). I think I have to discuss with my wife about this and maybe reconsider about our decision of buying crownline. I'm sure their boat look nice, but with a business attitude like what I have heard is not worth it. Crownline, I hope you will change in the future because this is bad for your business. I am from Michigan, and you just lost this customer.

After reading this thread, I'm wondering if we can report the Better Business Bureau to the Better Business Bureau! :D :D :D

Also, what does this say about JD Powers ratings?

Re: Crownline

 Runrob must have an ax to grind with Crownline. I can say that I have been EXTREMELY satisfied with Crownline customer service. PERIOD! In fact, I just purchased my second boat, another Crownline. Their customer service has ALWAYS treated me fairly, honestly and up front. Could it be dealer issues that runrob has??? I don't know. But then its not the place of any manufacturer to try to referree dealer/customer problems.

Matt, The Crownline that I just purchased, was purchased from Orion Marine in Lake Orion, Michigan. Orion Marine had ordered the boat for their showroom. I asked Orion Marine to have the factory make some changes regarding options, which they did. The boat is now in transit to my dealer...in Maryland.

Off topic (sorry)

Hey burp,

I'm boat shopping and was wondering about your experience with Orion Marine since they are only 15-20 miles away. Any info you care to share? Thanks.
