changing hands is not unusual for older boat companies. a lot of the founders get old and retire or die. the heirs sell off the company. board of directors, of holding companies, don't like holdings that don't make a lot of money in hard times and liquidate them. boat manufacturing is a hard business, when competing with a company like Brunswick, with around 27 different brands of boats, and the mercury/mariner lines of engines. to stay in business you have to have quality, and something a little different.
