Hi All
I'm currently in the market to buy a Bayliner 2858 of circa 1998 vintage that has a Cummins/Mercruiser 4.2 6 cyl turbo diesel. (UK petrol prices are crippling!)
I note that the recent Bayliner 2858 (now rebadged as 288) has the 4.2 diesel injection model producing 250hp,a friend has one and she goes real nice even with four up!
My dilema is this ...........I have a found a lovely boat that is within my budget that is fully loaded with all the toys, however it has the 4.2 200hp version with mech injection and the B2 single prop drive,I'm afraid this may be slightly underpowered????
I note that a 4.2 220hp version was also produced and fitted in these boats but they seem few and far between!!
My question to you experts is........Can the 200hp be upgraded to provide more power? i.e larger turbo? or injectors etc??
And would fitting the B3 duoprop be possible? would it make a difference?
and would this be a straight forward unbolt and bolt on job?
Many thanks in advance and I look forward to any help or suggestions.
