hey guys! I have had some help before from you all... so I figured maybe I could pick some ones brain.. I have a 92 cuddy cabin.. (manufactured from Colorado home made boat) no real model name, but mimics a late 80's chaparral.. I picked the boat up with no motor, previous owner had a nitrous charges 350 in it. I had an older build gm 250cc straight 6 motor from another boat in the shop, so I dropeed it in, bolted on the lower unit, and boom runs and engages great, but here is the kicker... launched the boat in the water for the 1st time late October -November and it would only idle in neutral... and as soon as I would engage it into drive...it would start to bog down the die.... idles great but dies out in gear...so I decided I want to rebuild the carbs since they look well over due.. equipped with 2 rockchester single barrels. but im not sure which model carbs they are...rsb1 or rsb2... so I wanted to either fid a rebuild kid, or replacement carbs..any help would be awesome!! thanks

Ayuh,.... Donno what yer carbs are, but a few things jump out at me,.....

The I6 motors were either the 250 cid, 165hp, or the 292 cid, I believe called a 200 hp,....

If it's stallin' goin' into gear, 2 things jump out at me,...
1, is the shift-interrupt switch workin' properly,..??
a draggin' lower shift cable can cause this,...
2, the gear ratio in the drive is Waayyy to tall, as it's the V8 ratio,....

'n Yes, you've got quite a few fuel issues, such as those plastic fuel filters have No place what so ever in a boat,....

I know they fuel filters arnt the correct ones, ive since ordered new filters, the metal bowls. just haven't installed them yet due to cold weather. and shift interrupt switch? wheres this located? what dose that switch do? and the drive and motor are a pair, came out of a boat together. theres still a bunch of other things ive rigged up to just functionality of the drive train, but have been or will be fixed when it warms up.

shift interupt switch is in the controls. it momentarily grounds the ignition when trying to shift into/out of neutral. this allows the dog clutches in the lower unit to disengage, otherwise once your in gear, it wont come out.

Can find no mention in the manuals for a dual carbed inline 6 cylinder, more pics of the setup would be nice
The second switch is called the "shift interupter" and is designed to momentarily stall the motor COMING OUT OF GEAR ONLY in the water. gets hooked up to the neg side of the coil and ground

hmm ok... well I guess ill have to take a peak at the back off the controls and look for that switch and ill have to hook up that second switch to the coil :D... and as far as the dual carbs, I haven't heard on duals either.. but it sure as hell dose have 2.. and let me tell you, the linkage is going to be tricky to try to figure out and more permanent solution..later this afternoon ill take some more detailed pictures and upload them so you can see what im working with.. thank you guys so much!!

is there a small metal tag just above the starter, no inline 6 from mercruiser ever had more than one carb

How had would it be to swap the Vovo intake onto the merc engine? There should be a casting number on the intake. Check those numbers with Vovo and see what carbs they used if a match.

and if the intake is aftermarket such as clifford or offenhauser, there will be the companies logo cast on it. 6=8 for Clifford, and a really big Offenhauser between the carbs on the top side

Per comments above marineengine dot com lists Sierra 18-7071 and Mercruiser 1397-3458 as available rebuild kits, not sure if that part numbers covers both carbs or just one
