Re: Cushion Parts & Assembly

So I got a small piece of vinyl to give this a try with. I have my friend's high end air powered stable gun. Is there something I can buy to put around the edge of the vinyl, so I'm not stapling directly through the vinyl? You know what I mean? Just like some kind of not-brittle plastic strips or something.

Here's what I did. I used the Plastic Banding material they use to band large pallets with. I then folded the edge of the vinyl over with the banding in the middle and then shot the stables. It worked Great for me.

Hi 1008 , I don,t know if you have already bent your wood backing on a a radius or not but I am in the middle of making some custom seats for my MFG and I just kerfed the back of my plywood ,made a jig of the curve and put pb in the kerfs then ran csm over that for strength..
Worked like a champ !:)

I have no idea what you just said. But I only need two curved pieces and I'm doing those last. I don't even have the wood for them yet. We'll see how all the flat ones go first.

LOL! Sorry but this is what I mean. I used 1/2 " very dry pt plywood and cut kerfs " little slots with a table saw " into the plywood about a 1/4 '" deep . Then used a mixture of cabosil , poly resin , and fiberglass fibers " peanut butter- pb " to fill in the kerfs. Then I put 2 layers of fiberglass mat over that . When dry it will hold whatever shape you want and be protected from water.

Hope that helps a little..

Re: Cushion Parts & Assembly

So I was again at the NE boat show this year, pulling cushions apart on new boats, seeing how they do it. I found one thing I really liked. I flipped the bow seats over on this one boat, and it had two plastic discs, kind of like hockey pucks, bolted to the bottom of the bow seats. These circles would fit into the hole in the fiberglass that opens to the storage compartments. This would restrict the cushion from moving in any direction except straight up. The perfect job for magnets!

So, does anyone know what these things are called? Or where I might get a set of them? I've been googling around to try and find a pic of them, but no luck.

Re: Cushion Parts & Assembly

I picked up 6 hockey pucks today at a local hockey shop. They are awfully solid, hopefully I can drill through them easy enough.

Also you think 5200 will sufficiently hold a hockey puck to a painted piece of plywood? That would save me the hassle of doing all the drilling, plus with no bolts, theres nothing to be scratching up the place when I pop the seats off to get in the compartments.
