Cuts Out/Engages/ Cuts Out

New to site. Guess I posted question in wrong category. Try again.
!989 4.3l omc cobra. Starts good, runs good up to about 30mpg.
Any more throttle after that it starts to cut out. It will cut out like someone has pinch off the fuel line, then it will re-engage for a couple of seconds then cut out again. Have checked the tube into the fuel tank, it's clear. Ran two cans of cleaner through the carberator. Thought it might be fuel pump, but rather try cheaper fixes first. Thanks

Try running it until it does it again,then loosen the gas cap and see if that cures it.Could be a bad anti-siphon valve in the tank..
Also look in the small clear hose that goes to the carb from the fuel pump for signs of fuel,it should be dry.That is a mechanical pump?
Also may be water in the fuel..Does it have a water seperator filter?

Replaced fuel pump, seems to have fixed the problem. It starts to miss alittle at about 3500 rpms hopefully nothing a tune up won't fix. Going to go ahead and replace spark plug wires also. It's a 1989, don't know if it's ever been done, sure can't hurt, right?
