Skipped 8 track and went straight to cassette when I bought my car in “73”.
Dad had a recording studio in the basement. Had a couple of TEAC, 4 channel reel to reel recorders. Bought a Nakamichi cassette deck to transition to cassette. Spent many late night hours recording “under ground/alternative” music off a couple of student run, college FM stations
