I did some checking. Sandi, send some pictures, as many as needed, of the damage to your dealer. I have his e-mail if you do not have it. But I suspect you do. That way he can look at it today, before you call tomorrow, and will have some answers for you on what is best to do for you to get it fixed promptly.

SA, thanks. Dave took some pics and emailed them to me. I'll send them to C - and yes, I have his info.

Thanks so much!

We understand we don't have a legal leg, probably. But I'm happy to throw ourselves on whatever mercy he might have. ;)

Hmmm, no pics, no updates, but starting to order accessories for the boat in another thread. Outcome of this misfortune must be good then ?

No update to give. Still waiting on the estimate from the fiberglass repair shop. DH is moving his shop, working 12 hour days. I've been swamped at work, also out of the house 12 hours a day.

The mooring cover is protection from the summer sun; we're gonna need it, so might as well think about it. ;)

I'll talk to C tomorrow or Saturday. I have 4 days off in a row! :D

We couldn't take it in for repairs until last week - DH was moving his business through 7 pm on May 31. ;)

It's at the repair shop now. Should be done this week, I hope!

Best of luck with the repairs. Let us know your impressions of the boat once you get out on the water.

Sorry, I had two resignations at work, and we've been working crazy hours. ;)

Dave took the boat up 3 weeks ago. It was supposed to be fixed within a week, and is still not done. We hope to pick it up Friday or Saturday this week. Estimate is $785 for everything, including color match.

Thanks for the update/pictures Sandi. That damage is worse than I envisioned. Some poor forklift work for sure. The person responsible for this should be kicked to the curb and looking for a new job. That is inexcusable negligence.
Hope all goes well with the repair, and you two can get on the water this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the sympathy, Slip Away. :D It's all so friggin' complicated. The boat is ready tomorrow, but Dave took the van in to have the transmission serviced. He's working late today and tomorrow, so unlikely to pick it up from the shop. The shop is closed on the weekend, so we can't pick up the boat Saturday. Which means NO ON THE WATER TIME AGAIN.

We've missed 30% of the season due to all of the delays, it seems. Grrr.

I'm hoping we can pick up the van first thing Monday morning, then drive up to Sacramento to get the boat by Monday lunchtime. And then head to Shasta on Weds. with the jetskis, since we've got houseboat rental plans....

First world problems, I know. :D

Thats a 3 day repair max. $785 seems kinda high to me .. ouch !

Yep, I agree - but this is the best fiberglass/gelcoat repair guy in Sacramento, according to the used boat dealers we talked to. Added benefit - we'd originally met him at the March boat show, and had seen some of his work, so Dave was comfortable with sending him pics and getting his opinion before we drove it 90 minutes north.

And yeah, I suspect time management is a challenge for him. He'd told us originally he was running 2 weeks before he could do it, and then I think he took pity on us. He changed his mind, told us he could "fit us in"....and then apparently didn't. ;) He runs the shop himself, and only has one worker. I suspect a control freak aspect, but that's OK. I respect control freaks. ;) As long as it's done right, we're good.

No boat on Lake Shasta ?? I can understand with the houseboat rental. But that looks like a great place to shake down the new boat. always wanted to visit there someday.

We're renting a houseboat, so the jetskis are a good accessory. We live on the Delta, so finding a body of water for a shakedown cruise will not be a problem. ;)
