Re: Date Night with Boat

Not knowing anything about the lakes in your area, but.... perhaps you could get a couple of friends with a boat to help you out. Find a nice quiet cove ahead of time. Arrange for your friends to get there about an hour before you, perhaps start a campfire, and set-up a romantic picnic. They could provide a cd-player etc. When they see you and your boat approaching, they get in theirs and leave. That way you could surprise her with a romantic evening. It could be as simple as strawberries and whipped cream, hot dogs, smores, or more elaborate as some smoked fish cooked on the fire. Wine, a soft blanket, some tunes (Burt Bacarach, Tony Bennett, etc). After all is done, load-up and take a leisurly boat ride back to the dock. If everyone keeps their mouths shut, then you could return the favor to your friend so that he can impress his gal. :)

Re: Date Night with Boat

Date night on the boat. We've done that many times years ago, but had nearly forgotten. This thread has rekindled the interest, so I showed it to my lovely wife of 40 years. She smiled, I smiled back. The boys had moved out 20 years ago, so that was no issue. I said "Meet me at the boat in an hour. I'll bring the wine and candles". I arrived at the boat first, lit the candles, poured the wine.. She finally arrives, wearing a knockout swimsuit and a pink lounging robe, still looking like a million bucks after all these years (we're over 60). She smiled yet again. I climbed aboard first, and immediately smacked my forehead into the bicycle hanging from the rafters above it. No worries, a band-aid from the safety kit stopped the bleeding. I finally pulled her up into the boat, but she scraped her leg on the rod holder and quickly announced that the aluminum was too cold to sit on, and besides, the single flat tire on the trailer had the boat leaning to one side. On a 14 footer, that's quite a lean! I guess the smell of gas didn't help either. The last straw was when the cat jumped aboard clenching a mouse in it's teeth. Oh, well! Before we went back upstairs, we threw another load into the washer, and spent the evening watching Dancing with the Stars. Thanks for the great idea!

Larry

That's hilarious!

Re: Date Night with Boat

Call us old fashioned, but the only time our kids ever had a sitter was twice for funerals. My wife was a stay-at-home-mom as well. Didn't go back to work till the youngest was in Middle school.

I have always thought that boating of any kind was a FAMILY sport. That's how it was with me and my parents, and that's how it was when our kids came along.

So be it....now that the kids are grown and on their own, its date night all the time. We dock at a waterfront restaurant, or if we want pizza type stuff we call the local shop and they deliver right to the municipal dock.

Other times we'll go to a secluded local island with a blanket and a portable grill, and make our own dinner. We did that with the kids as well. And even before the kids. Likely that's where the first kid got started!!!

Wow you all are great with the replies. OK I confess. If all goes well there will be some type of Adam and Eve Action. After owning our boat for a year we must christen our new to us boat the proper way. :D A little Birthday Suit swimming would be fun.

Yes boating to us is a family Sport and can be a Romantic Boat as well.

Keep the Idea's flowing. Thank you.

Re: Date Night with Boat

My bow rider does have filler cushions so yes it would be possible to sleep up there. Didn't think of that.

My fianc?e and I camp on our bowrider about ever weekend in the summer (mine has a bow tent so we even can have privacy, but to be honest sleeping (or not sleeping ;) )under the stars is super nice. Most any marinas have guest (or even overnight rental slips available for about 5 bucks or so a night). Why not go for a boat ride, pull into the guest (or rental) slip, use the marinas grill (or pre buy a 20 dollar small) grill. cook and enjoy a steak and simple sides dinner (candles optional), go for another boat ride taking in the sunset, pass some time together (swim, play, talk, or anything else that two adults feel like doing). Then camp on the water, or go back and overnight at the rental slip (marinas have bathrooms that are open 24 hours. no privacy if you have an open bow but still nice and different and y'all are just sleeping...already had a fun night.), or capture an island and camp,or camp "on the hook" or even go home happy that while not an overnight trip, you still a nice date.

Re: Date Night with Boat

Ya, date nights on the boat are very cool. We have a marina on our lake that has live music on Saturday nights. When the band shuts down, we get back into the boat (about 12 am or so) and go find a cove so I can commence to "Layin' some pipe"......... nothing better for sure.

For some reason a boat, a lake, a band at a marina and a little wine makes the lady's get a little "Frisky" if ya know what I mean.

Im still chuckling at Layin some pipe comment.

Re: Date Night with Boat

Met my admiral in the 5th grade when my family moved from the midwest to Malibu. Were friends from then on. Dated in High School and married at 19. And, now, 38 years later we are still married. We have had weekly "date nights" from the beginning. Since our sons are grown and have been out of the house for a few years now, every night is date night. And, every saturday (since we bought the boat) has been date day on the water. Still some romance left but have to admit, date night when we were 19 and date night now at 57 are a bit different........at 19 we were in the back of a car, now we are in the stern of the boat........

Good luck David with your plans.

And, like others above........thanks to Infidel (and all who serve or have served) for his brave service ...not to mention....his keen sense of humor while dodging bad guys......

Re: Date Night with Boat

Thanks Brian for you Comments. Congrats on your 38 Years of Marriage. I meet my wife when I was 17 and she was 16. Married her when I was 22yr. Time flys and we have been married for 21 years with 3 Kids. All boys.

I think having date night on the boat will spark alot of new romance.
