doin fine, a bit beat up, but will still go to Hawaii w/ her bf, on crutches, but will be resting on a warm beach

Tis the season for idiot drunks ruining other folks Christmas'. Glad to hear she's a tough kid...hopefully it will open some eyes for the people involved that driving drunk has real serious consequences. Merry Christmas and here's to a speedy recovery for your daughter.

Our daughter had a 17 year old drunk drive up into her yard and t-bone her new Accord and run into the garage door. Then he drove home 2 blocks away. Neighbor's security system got it on tv camera/recorder. The kid's father refuses to talk to his insurer (USAA), and the claim is on hold--pending receipt of police reports. Our daughter's had to make a claim on her insurance in the meantime.

1:45 minutes later, the son in law arrived home @ 1:30 a.m. from work. He could have easily been hit by the kid.

She out of hospital, on crutches, slight pain meds, going to Hawaii w/ bf in a week or so, waiting on police info of other driver( 4 underage boys in other car) good spirits. Insurance wise and attorney stuff waiting. Thats my Xmas present!

Good result and its good to hear she's going to be ok perhaps with nothing too serious?. Given the way fate and the odds work hopefully, in this lifetime, that was as close as she will ever come to drunk-driving incident.

I wondered about that? Hard to make a strong claim for pain and suffering when you're in Paradise.

As far as papers go, just remember, the car is a completely separate "claim" from the injuries. She can settle on the car and get that money, all while the injury claim is open.

Most states it us the parents who must cover their childrens mistakes for such things until 18 Ill is one such state as is Ca

Wow this could have been so much worse...glad it was slow speed. As to TilliamWe's comment, I know he is pointing out the obvious that somehow kids aren't adults until I think the age is around 26 these days. Expectatons have become so low it is really just astounding. Regardless, it is the world we live in and there will always be drunks on the road.
