Hey Guys
I need some more help on this 1973 65hp 3cyl.Johnson. This is the same one I asked about engine balance problem with commercal pistons about two months ago as it turned out they worked fine. My problem now is dead miss on #2 cyl. no fire. Here is the history complete engine rebuild along with new carb kits and water pump and a few other small items. 1st time I took it to the lake it ran fine with some minor adjustents. 2nd time no problems at all. Third time is the charm as they say. I was about to head to south La. for red fishing. When I noticed no fire on no2.ohmed the coils swaped them around no change you would think power pack right. Put a new power pack on same thing. Put a new coil on. I keep a spare. no change. Checked sensor output at the coil pack and each has about 112ac volts. checked all the grounds:good continuity. :confused O yea its got good compression and new spark plugs on all cyl. Any other though would be greatley appreciated.
Bobby

'Afternoon Autotech,

Not terribly familiar with this motor so sorry about the obvious questions but:
Did the plug wire go with the Coil?
How to the wrest of the wires look?

If something is leaning against the block, it could have melted or worn and shorted to the block. Course as you are Autotech, I'm sure you know that But,.. just trying to help.

Good Luck

So, you've checked with a spark checker and get no spark?

Dont have a spark tester. Used a known good plug to ground no spark also put my hand on while wife bumped it over it didn't bite. While running on the muffs pulled plug wire off and no change. 1 and 3 kills the engine.
Most of the wires were retaped during rebuild. So I dont think there is a probles there. Yes the plug wire came with the new coil.
thanks again guys
Bobby
