Decarbing Right Now - Question

I'm following the decarb instructions and I've finished the process except for the wide open spin on the lake. Right now in the barrel, I am still getting A LOT of smoke. Will this subside after the WOT spin or do I need more seafoam and repeat the process again? '69 Evinrude 9.5hp

It will smoke like a house on fire for a while on the WOT spin. You shouldn't have to repeat the process.

Re: Decarbing Right Now - Question

If I was going to see improvement on compression, would it be now, or after the WOT spin? I'm asking because before I started the decarb, top cylinder measured 65 psi and bottom measured 55 psi. When I just finished the portion of the decarb in the driveway both are measuring exactly 50 psi which seems really low to me. I guess it could be the gauge too since it's a loaner from an Auto parts store.

Re: Decarbing Right Now - Question

See what happens after the WOT spin.
Low even compression numbers can also mean a bad head gasket between the cylinders. When this happens, there will be a erroneous compression reading because compression from one cylinder travels to the other cylinder.

Take it for a WOT spin and the check it again. Maybe with a different gauge.
