Re: deceased members

After much thought and discussion, your Moderators will not be posting new memorial threads. Past threads are available in the archives and you may post whatever moves you, within our rules.

Sorry, guys.

Re: deceased members

I can understand some of the reasoning behind a decision like this ... privacy for the family, not wanting to miss someone, or something, etc. It makes sense.

But if I understand correctly, if any of us learns of a member who has passed, it is okay to post a memorial thread for that person to let everyone else know. But we are not going to have an ongoing memorial thread.

Is this the proper protocol as of now? Just want to be clear and keep myself and everyone else within the rules of iboats.

Absolutely, just like in any community.

Correct. No specific ongoing tribute, memorial, obituary or however you personnally see it threads.

Maybe there could be a closed thread like the top secret file just listing them that would be updated. That way you could click on one of them and go to their old threads or something.

Gee! I come on here after being away for sometime, then I see the title of this thread and the first thought that came into my head was, "YIKES! A BUNCH O' PEOPLE DIED" well, it turned out not to be so after I hesitantly clicked on the thread, therefore I shall gather up from the floor all of my medical tobacky and remain very calm, poised and totally relaxed for the rest of the day.

I couldn't help noticing that there were so very few names on here that seemed familiar to me, including the names of the late Spinnerbaitnut and Tashasdaddy who are by now immortalized into the pillars of this forum, and rightly so.

The venerable SS MAYFLOAT, mentioned the name Derwood, I wonder how many folks here remembers Derwood. I remember him as a fellow who made me laugh a lot.
The last I heard was that he had moved to somewhere in central Florida and that his new job at that time was keeping him extremely busy.

Now i must go before I start to get remembered, oh! One last thing, I wish that it would rain on Texas.

Vlad you're back!

Ah! Fireman57, you're needed in Texas. Before moving to south Florida I lived in north Texas, but its unpredictable weather patterns was one of the factors that caused me to move, but I did leave a big part of my heart there.
Off topic, I know, who cares? JB?....I wish it would rain on him. :)

A good hurricane hitting the Texas coast would be good. Just a category two and then sweep through the whole state. Won't solve your problem but would definitely help. We haven't had but .8" since July fourth but it's hard to complain when I look at what you guys are going through.
