Deck and nonskid treatment

I've been reading about nonskid cleaners and it appears Star brite and Woody Wax are popular. I plan on cleaning the deck with normal boat cleaner then applying one of these.
At the top of the gunwales on the sides I have more of an orange peel texture. It scuffs badly when people are getting on/off the boat. Can I use these treatments there too or is it too slippery.

Soft Scrub with bleach is great on any non-skid areas. Don't use it on the smooth gelcoat because it will take off the shiny finish. But on the non-skid, just work it with a bristle brush and hose it off.

I hope you don't intend to wax your deck. That is not the surface to have a slippery finish - which is why the manufacturers use non-slip patterns in the gelcoat. A lot of injuries can be caused by a wet slippery deck (sole).

Use the SoftScrub for cleaning and stop there.

I'm confused though. Some say no abrasives, mild soap. Woody Wax and Star brite are specifically for non skid. Spray on ,move around, rinse off with high pressure when dry. Puts a coating on to repel stains, and the Star brite I hear will "bleach out" stains. But the sides with the rough texture are what I really need cleaned. Where people step with deck shoes, fish, etc.

Woody Wax is not a cleaner. It's a wax.

I use Marykate Heavy Duty Non Skid Deck Cleaner then Woody Wax on my non-skid.
Marykate smells and looks like a combination of bleach and comet cleanser w/o the grit. The stuff works great on the non-skid. It cleans the showers in the house even better.

Squirt some Markykate on the deck and brush it around with a deck brush. If heavily stained, you may need to let it sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing it back off.

When applying Woody Wax, follow the direction precisely. They are not lying when they say a little goes a long way. A couple of tablespoons waxes my entire deck, plus some.

I use Woody Wax to clean and protect the aluminum supports of my hardtop as well

I use Mop-&-Glo kitchen floor "wax" to protect the floor and gunnels.
It leaves a sheen versus a shine (if that makes sense) and well, is made to be walked on, right?
