I want to make some deck hatches in my floor. They don't need to be watertight since they'll drain right into the bilge anyway. I just want to get access to more storage area. What have people here done to make cheap and easy access to underfloor storage?

Re: Deck Hatches

buy an inexpensive boat storage hatch frame and door. Cut a hole and install.
I'd fiberglass rough wood edges, or, at the least coat them with resin prior to installing the hatch frame.

Re: Deck Hatches

I was looking at those and for the size opening I want I'm looking at $100+. Mostly, I'm paying for watertight seals etc, which I don't need. I figured I could make something for around $20 in hinges latches and aluminum framing.
