when you say use the PL to seal the edges, do you mean squirt it where the wood touches the side of the hull?

Nothing. The deck doesn't need to be attached to the sides on an aluminum boat.

Yes. You're sealing the wood, not trying to prevent water from getting in the bilge.

okay, thanks for the info. I just want to do the best job of this that I can for the budget I am on. I'm not trying to create some fancy boat, just a rugged fishing rig.
