Thanksgiving morning...
So far 2 houses on news burned down already from turkey fryer accidents (1 in Eugene, Oregon; 1 up near Seattle).

Let's start a count. Post any fires in your area. Hopefully not yours!

Isn't eating greasy food which is deep fried 364 days a year enough? The turkey has to be deep fried as well?

What???? Okay, now I am confused??? Based on the time of your post and it is only 1130 am here on the east coast, were they frying turkey for breakfast??? or did they attempt to cook yesterday.

Just struck me as funny.

Bob

God loves stupid people.
If he didn't, he wouldn't've made so many.

Can we start a sub-count in different categories, too?

- Frozen bird/wet bird into hot oil
- Trying to do it stove-top
- Filling pot to top with oil before immersing bird
- setting up the propane burner in the living room

Any other suggested categories?

See a bird I did :
http://mysite.verizon.net/vze8cnv0/id10.html

Couple of years back they did it outside on the porch of a pretty expensive house. It was a covered porch but not for long. Guy got bored watching it and went indoors. Wasn't boring for too much longer.

Fires apparently were yesterday...

Eugene - new house just completed, construction crew decided to fry a turkey in the garage to pre-celebrate holiday and it boiled over.

Seattle - Man left house to run errand with fry cooker going unattended...it caught fire.

EZ, I just read that article. Their thermometer was broken. They just overheated and boiled the oil over. They got another turkey and cooked it in the front yard of the house across the street.

You should sue the turkey frier manufacturers TR. That'll solve the problem.

If it weren't for my relatives, I'd never do a turkey in the oven again!

DEEP FRIED TURKEY RULES!

There's no gummy skin - it's all like a delicate puff pastry, and you cannot believe how JUICY the bird is.

Well worth the effort!

I just took my apple juice brined "Boomyal Bird" off the weber grill after smoking it all morning with apple wood. The color is perfect. My wife has it in the oven for a final heating and cook thru.

This is the grill in the backyard and the "Boomyal Bird". I can't wait to try it! :D

Yep EZ, that looks like a quintessential primordial Brush Prairie Washington back yard. That bird looks perfect. How long did you brine it.

Boomyal, I brined it 12 hours in the natural outdoor cold...
Your brine made the whole house smell great! My wife told me to thank you for the recipe!
:D

PS - My whole yard is natural vegetation... I don't own a lawnmower and dont'
want one.
