Good day all. I have a 1996 Merc 5.7l lx which had a Thunderbolt V ignition with knock sensor. Due to on going issues and cost of module replacement I decided to swap the TB V for a Delco Voyager ignition. I removed the TB V and the knock sensor module, which was mounted at the rear of the distributor. Installing the delco went well following their instructions. Problem is the boat wont start. The Delco instructions never mentioned a system with a knock sensor but its mounted on the distributor. My question is, do I need to put the knock sensor module back in or is there a work around. I suspect something isnt getting energized that needs to be. I'll load some photos as well. Any help would be appropriate.
