My 1995 factory installed 4 winns depth finder wont catch a reading - just keeps blinking - the transducer is underneath the gas tank on this boat - any ideas how to fix or would be cheaper and easier to install a new different one - really hesatant about drilling a new hole in the bottom of my boaat though ?

4Winns doesn't make depth finders. Who made it?

Go to the Lowrance website, 2nd. Download the Owner's Manual for whatever model it is. That should give you some troubleshooting suggestions.

Good luck. :)

It's 10 years old. Not worth time or money fixing, Lowrance will tell you the same thing. Put a bullet in her and get a new one.

lee

Re: Depth Finder not working

Don't know if this thread is still active, but I have the same problem with the same boat. For the benefit of the other guys here, this is one of those fully integrated things with the display in the dash. Kinda neat until you have this kind of problem.

I'd be inclinded to think it's the transducer that's screwed and not the electronics box / display.

I can see that the lead on mine has only two wires, so probably a different make / type of transducer would work, but how to find one which will exactly fit the hole 4Winns drilled in the hull ?

It may be the transducer is simply fouled. They do need to be cleaned periodically. If the transducer cable is not firmly attached at the head unit, it will also give you a blank screen.
