I recently bought a new ignition switch for my johnson 80 V4Al-19 and i wired it like the manual diagram says, but nothing happens, before i hooked up the switch, i could turn the engine over from the solenoid to the starter, but as i said with the switch hooked up nothing happens, So then i turned the ignition to the accesory position, and touched the solenoid to the starter and it made a pop like a fuse popped but i can only find one on my engine....is there another??....what did I do wrong???...Please Help...

There is only one fuse, a short 20 amp power fuse, located within a red wire a short distance from the starter solenoid.

Sounds like you wired the ignition switch wrong OR have the wrong ignition switch.

What are the terminals marked on the back of that switch, and what color are the wires that connect to it.

Batt, Ign, S are on back of ignition switch, heres what i got for wires:

Starter solenoid- 1 big green, one little white?? not sure to s on switch

Capacitor- brown wire to gen on ammeter, to batt on switch

Choke- red wire with white stripe to choke switch over to ign on switch

Voltage regulator- solid red wire to ign on switch

Coil + pos- white with red stripe to ign on switch

Coil - neg- gray wire to send on tach

Engine on- Black wire splits to ground on tach, red wire from light to ign on ignition

Engine hot- black wire to outside of light, red wire from light to ign on switch

blue, green, red: for controls fwd, reverse and power?? red to ign on switch
